  Middle School Career Day

Make a Difference for the Future! RSVP Today for the Middle School Career Day!

Please join the Springfield Chamber of Commerce Education Committee along with the Springfield School District at this year's Middle School Career Day. We will be at the Springfield Armory on Tuesday, March 20, 2011 from 7:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

This is your chance to influence the future, as we will be expecting nearly 800 8th grade students from Agnes Stewart, Briggs, Hamlin, Springfield, and Thurston Middle Schools.

Each business hosting a table will represent one of six different CAM Pathways: Arts & Communications, Business & Management, Health Services, Human Resources, Industrial & Engineering, and Natural Resource Systems. Your participation will directly help the 8th grade students by giving them a better understanding of the various career opportunities available as they prepare to make their Pathways selection for their upcoming high school careers.

Alternately, as a mock interviewer, your role is to give the students constructive feedback concerning what they can do to improve upon their interview skills. For example, encouraging them to give a firm handshake or make eye contact, and helping them to understand how they can relate their personal skills and work experience to career objectives.

Thank you for considering taking a part in this fun event. Please RSVP by Thursday, March 15. To register, or if you have any questions, please email katie@springfield-chamber.org or call 541-746-1651.
