The Emerald Art Association began in 1957 when a group of artists and art lovers took on the task of building an art league. The Emerald Art Center offers art classes, gallery showings, and a gift shop. They also have a Mayor's Art Show.

Historic Springfield Depot

Built in the 1890's by Southern Pacific, the Train Depot is a SP Standard #22 Victorian/stick style. It was moved, and later restored. It now houses the Chamber of Commerce.

The Museum is housed in the 1911 Oregon Power Company transformer station. Because of its unique architecture and its important role in the early utility industry, the building is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Daily Whitewater Rafting River Trips!

Just an hour from Eugene/Springfield, the spectacular McKenzie River offers a perfect sampling of remarkable Oregon scenery and exciting and fun whitewater thrills in the Cascade Mountain Range. The Lower McKenzie, a family favorite, has calm, scenic stretches spiced with exciting Class II and III whitewater, including the famed Martin's Rapids. The Upper McKenzie offers excitement with exhilarating action with fast and nearly continuous Class II and III whitewater. You will be part of the team as you assist your guide in paddling through thrilling rapids. Discover the whitewater and scenery that have made the McKenzie a recreational landmark. A half-day trip on either section of this crystal clear river includes the longest and most exciting rapids. The full-day trips include further river miles and a delicious riverside lunch. Reservations are required.

The Washburne Historic District is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The Historic District was established in 1985 and is named for C.W. Washburne who was a prominent banker and mill owner in Springfield. He was the owner and operator. Washburn Historic District includes a large number of historic buildings.
